But it's better than 16 lanes of traffic being stopped for no reason.

That was me trying to steal a house from Canada back in 2018.

*filed to things ive never seen round here*
but it did remind me of a question i had when i was in oklahoma
why oh why is everything made of wood in a space that gets tornados?
and its not even thick wood.... those are pretty flimsy houses
surely it would pay to have your house built right the first time instead of rebuilding whenever
does nobody remember the big bad wolf?

You never see that in BC. Because here the land is the valuable part not the house.
I’ve seen houses I’d live in forever happily mowed over for massive palaces.

In the JJ Abrams reboot of the 3 L ittle P igs, the brick house gets sucked into a lens flared tornado just as easily as the wood and straw ones, and then the budget was all gone, so it was rebuilt with the cheapest materials by the ret-con fourth Pig, Lester.

Still better than a rig move where there are 25 of them running a convoy...

Down here they tend to chop the houses into two or three bits before moving them. What you saw exceeds our maximum load width by quite some margin.

You would think concrete underground bunkers would be more popular.

Generally the same is done where I live as well. That said, this three story house was moved, porch and all, roughly a mile back in the early 90s when the city decided to build a new school where it previously sat. It was done as a single piece down two-lane city streets. Many trees were extensively trimmed that day.
